A Dark Power Waits In The Forest
Silas Dermont, Prince of Aldron, has received an urgent summons from the orcs of Neroterra. Bound by a treaty he did not create, Silas reluctantly ventures to the orc city to learn of an insidious plot revolving around an old gauntlet stolen by a mysterious shaman. With only a small band of warriors and a rival noble at his side, Silas must retrieve the gauntlet for the orcs or risk inciting a war with Neroterra. But once he enters the forest to face the shaman, Silas realizes the errand is far more difficult than he imagined.
The Shaman of Neroterra is an epic fantasy novella that takes place before the events of The Blade Heir novel. If you enjoy sword and sorcery adventure, fast-paced action, larger-than-life heroes, and underlying themes of faith, then you'll love Daniel Adorno's latest entry in the growing world of Azuleah.

I love a good story. Daniel does a great job of developing characters in a short amount of space. What I loved about the book is his ability to bring you into the mind of the main character. Perhaps one of his best features is his ability to leave you with some good cliff hangers. Readers have a sense of how stories can lead. To me the joy is the process of how the story is unfolded and how tension is resolved. I was left wanting to know more about Silas, the gauntlet, and that pesky Felix Gyrn. I would love to see a longer book on this particular story. But, maybe Daniel will answer my questions on Silas in the other books. Great work! Keep learning and growing to offer some great stories Daniel!Product details

The Shaman of Neroterra edition by Daniel Adorno Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a short story prequel. It was an enjoyable quick read. I hope the follow on stories are just as good.
It was a pretty good book, but a mite confusing as well, you get immersed into the book enough to want a bit more.
There are lots of unknowns, about the world, the people, the places, lots of mystery. A decent read.
The story is fast paced and well written. I found myself wanting more. That is the only reason for four stars instead of five.
My first read by author Daniel Adorno and it will not be my last. Short but very well written and enjoyable. I think an author's most difficult task in a short work is character development and Adorno carried it off well. He's created a world that makes you thirst for more. Well done!
I actually read The Shaman of Neroterra before a got The Blade Heir. The story was about normal for a fantasy quest, however the writing grabbed my attention more than many others of the same plot line. I enjoyed getting to know the different peoples of Azuleah. This was a great introduction for the series. I just finished the first book of the series which I strongly recommend.
Seeing as this novella is a prequel, I read this first. While the scenery is detailed as well as the incredible fight scene, the characters lack depth. Not having read The Blade Heir, I'm not sure if the Prince or his family are actually the good guys. It seems like the Prince is a decent human being, however, he questions his father's actions throughout the story.
With this realization, I wonder if the novella should be read after the full length novel
Best selling fantasy and science fiction author Daniel Adorno stepped on to the fantasy scene with his debut novel The Blade Heir, unleashing his talent and imagination to the world. Now, Adorno has once again returned to Azuleah, but this time bringing us back in time in the story, following Silas, Prince of Aldron, as he attempts to settle a dispute with the orcs of Neroterra by helping them retrieve a gauntlet carried by a goblin, but mystery and treachery abound and Silas must watch his back if he is to make it out alive.
Shaman is an action packed, fast paced fantasy adventure with great characters and compelling political intrigue. Adorno thrusts you into the political world of Azuleah right away, but without boring you to tears. Not before long, you're bounding through the woods with Silas, fighting orcs and goblins alike. I loved Silas from The Blade Heir, but Adorno made me love Silas even more with this book, and on the opposite side of the coin made me hate the villains he faced. This story is a real page turner. I literally couldn't put it down. Adorno knows how to craft a taut and exciting adventure story. Whether your a fan of the Azuleah series eager for more, or a newcomer curious to find out what all of this is about, Shaman will not let you down.
