At 27 pages, this tiny tome is a perfect length; short enough to hold your attention through the explanations, examples, testimonials, and benefits, yet long enough to give readers everything they need to begin using the techniques right away.
Taft lays out exactly what needs to be done to fit mindfulness and meditation into your daily life in clear, straightforward prose, and with no-nonsense sections such as a “A 4-Step Framework to Meditation,” “4 Need-To-Know Tips for New Meditators to Guarantee Success,” and “Jumpstart Your Happiness: 10 Exercises to Get You Started.” Together with common-sense suggestions such as "…slot your meditation time before or after an activity that you are already doing on a daily basis," (15) and readers have all they need to know in a few succinct, easily-understood paragraphs.

This was an interesting read about meditation and mindfulness. I definitely believe in the power of the two. This book gives great detail about the positive effects and is a great beginner's resource. The benefits can be tremendous. It also gives some 'backup' from famous people to support the idea. Then the nitty gritty of the book is a beginner's guide to how to start meditating and the different types of meditation. There are exercises in the end that are even more helpful for you and even a section for children. I am a foster parent and am considering using this with them in the future.

This is a good book for anyone who is starting out meditation.
In chapter 1, the explanation on what is mindfulness is easy to digest and Jere mentioned quite a number of popular or successful people to convince the reader that it would be your loss if you give meditation a miss. Deepak Chopra, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Clint Eastwood and the Company of Cisco Systems are some of the names mentioned.
In chapter 2, the amazing power of mindfulness is described, such as reducing stress and increasing the immune system.
The rest of the chapters are practical steps or action to take for you to experience meditation and mindfulness.
For example, six variations of meditation are given and twenty eight exercises on being mindful.
I like the chapter on how to impart mindfulness to children so that they can start young.
How I wished I had learn meditation when I was young.
Highly recommended if you are trying to meditate or wanting to learn mindfulness.
Clear and easy to understand guide book for meditation and mindfulness.

First chapter of the book will introduce you to the concept of mindfulness. It is interesting to know who are some of the most influential people who practice mindfulness like Oprah Winfrey, Arianna Huffington, Giselle Bundchen and my favourite Ellen DeGeneres.

The second chapter talks about the benefits of mindfulness ranging from psychological to physical benefits. I am fascinated by the facts that mindfulness can change our genetic expression. However it was not further elaborated in this chapter.

There are 4 steps of framework and 6 forms of meditation being explained in chapter 3 and 4 respectively. and there are 4 golden rules that you must know to successfully achieve this mindfulness habit and lifestyle which I think are very useful.

and the last chapter will share with you the 10 practical exercises to get you started on this journey to meditation and mindfulness.
